Jacqui:
I love the concept of netweaving! Thank you for helping me find this resource and new name for networking!

I love the hints and advice in your post that encourage the use of social media (LI groups and Twitter) to begin relationships! That's how I was able to meet you! Follow the best, give generously and watch what happens.

As always, super work and thanks for #careercollective!

Wow - thanks Dawn! I love the idea of a 'prescription' for 'how to network when you really don't want to.'

I suppose I write from my own personal experience, as I've always felt more genuine with this approach. As well, witnessing many colleagues, clients, mentors, friends and others apply an approach of 'building connections with opportunities to showcase one's capabilities' (great language, Dawn), has provided examples of best networking practices.

Many thanks for your continued support and wise word contributions!

"Actionable steps' = yea! I'm so glad that translated, as I want to provide a resource for careerists to go to when they get frustrated with or daunted by this process we call 'networking!'

Ah, Marianna,
You always add such insightful nuggets in your comments.

GREAT point about sometimes what grows being greater than what was forseen. NICE! (That's the 'value-add' and unexpected little surprises in life, eh?).

Always enjoy your stopping by,
Jacqui

Thanks Erin!

So glad we are 'in accord' on this topic. I'm not surprised, as you've proven yourself as a long-term relationship builder who adds value to others' businesses and lives.

Cheers,
Jacqui

Thanks Gayle!

I so agree with you regarding the 'long-term strategy' approach to networking! Rather than waiting until job loss and the point of the most intense pain to reach out and build relationships (e.g., Do you know a recruiter who can 'find me a job?'), it is MUCH more fruitful to build relationships organically, over time.

I appreciate your advocacy and 'voice' over here, at my blog, Gayle :)

Dorlee,
Thanks so much for your supportive comment!

I had hoped the examples in this post would provide pragmatic, possible networking methods readers may choose from (depending upon what fits their style), and your reply makes me think I may have succeeded.

Additionally, via your consistent and meaningful blogging and tweeting, you have become a very strong example of the 'what can I do for you' approach to networking.

Much continued success to you!
