I met Dawn Bugni eight years ago through Twitter and through blogging. Immediately, we connected. We met in real life at an industry conference a couple of years later, including toasting to our friendship on the deck of a riverboat. Since the day we met, I’ve noted her laser-sharp wit and intelligence woven through every initiative.
Playfully Intelligent and Warm
Dawn channels wit and warmth into a passion for helping her clients – with an incomparable diligence and perfectionism. She is equally passionate helping her colleagues, and she does this daily, without much accolade – except, perhaps, for the regular smiles and verbal appreciation we (often ineptly) express to her.
Collegial
I think this collegiality is a key area where she disrupts our industry — her graciousness in quelling day-to-day issues that naturally arise when you’re a career entrepreneur interacting with often anxious and upset job seekers and careerists who are in the throes of upheaval and change.
Problem Disentangler
Dawn cuts through ‘our’ angst and problem solves – she drops what she is doing to assist her colleagues. I’ve seen it first hand when I’ve been in the whirlwind of client quagmires. Our business requires we interact with tender handholding combined with structured ‘tough talk’ to focus and drive forward our clients and their goals. It is not for the faint of heart. Dawn’s pragmatic, empathetic coaching + consulting have certainly led me through storms and into the light of day; I know she has had the same positively disruptive impact on my colleagues.

People Bolsterer
Whether it be in the closed-door privacy of industry groups, or publicly on social media, Dawn shares her wisdom and wit, not for personal gain, but to bolster those around her. She is highly personalized and unique in her ability to prove that rising tides surely do lift all boats.
Animal Advocate
Add to this her breadth of social good. Dawn is an animal advocate beyond compare. She and her husband currently care for a number of fur family members on their rural acreage in North Carolina, along with having rescued and released multiple wild animals. News media have reported on her initiatives in this area. As well, Dawn readily shares her wealth of information and advice, when asked, on how to care for and ensure the safety and health of all things living.
