Have the Courage to Begin Again

New Season, New You

For many, as summer winds down, vacations are in the rearview window, kids are returning to school/college, and energies are shifting toward other, autumn priorities. This opens up the opportunity to Begin Again, with renewed focus on your career journey goals.

Strategic Advantage

New reports regarding high- and slow-growth industry and economic trends as well as the plethora of experts espousing ‘this way or the highway’ job-search tactics make it a noisy and oft-confusing career search environment.

However, many companies recruit new talent in the final few months of the year to exhaust remaining budget funds. This period of ‘strategic advantage’ enables companies to equip for new projects and initiatives in the new year.

Moreover, there are no real ‘rules’ to job search and individual career marketing — remember, resume stories are an art, NOT a science. Be YOU, and eliminate the noise of the inexperienced but know-it-all experts.

In my nearly 28 years’ as full-time owner of CareerTrend(.net) and 20 of those years as an Executive Career Storyteller, I can confidently say this:
– The foundational truths of a ‘story’ never change.
– While a wildly loud contingent of people are convinced of their own innovative solutions to YOUR job search and career storytelling strategy, and their claim to fame is being ‘new and different’ in their methods, the foundational aspects of career storytelling remain consistent.
– To tell a story, you MUST use words.
– To tell a story, you MUST use context.
– To tell an EXECUTIVE story, shrinking your value to 1-2 pages does you and your career a disservice.

So, if you are considering revisiting your Career Story this fall, please hold close to your value and push back on the purported magic of minimalism when it comes to YOUR message.

Be bold, bring your value to the table with aplomb. Be specifically you and prove, through words and stories, that you can solve their problems.

If you want help doing this, let me know: jacqui@careertrend.net or 816.896.3792 (voice/text). I’m here to help.

PS – I still write from scratch in my own words and independent of AI’s magical spin. While I value ChatGPT, Grok and other AI tools for research and affirming insights, when you hire me, you get MY unadulterated, creative writing and pure thought-work.

In the past, I’ve used contract writers to help assimilate initial thought-work. However, in an attempt to purify my style and enable the highest quality outcomes, I am currently the SOLE writer and strategist working one-on-one with each and every client.
