What end-of-year career goals are you working to meet?

I’ll go first — it’s actually a career goal I’ve been working on for most of 2019 that I want to continue to build on through the rest of 2019. Have you checked out my Instagram, Twitter, or LinkedIn lately? If you have, this will come as no surprise to you, but if you haven’t — I’ve been working really hard to make my social platforms an extension of the 1:1 calls I have with clients, prospects and partners throughout the year.

Navigating a career reframe or restarting the job search can be fear-inducing. Even as a business owner, I know how trying slow times can be. Implementing a perspective shift (or even slight rebrand of how you present your skills or services) can make the difference. It’s what I talk through during consulting calls, but now I’m letting all my writing and social posts serve as additional resources for those navigating the choppy seas that are baked into building a career.

In between coaching sessions, my hope is that pieces like this one can remind you that even though pinning down an executive resume story is ever-evolving, it shouldn’t impede you from capturing your story to the best of your ability right now. Future you will thank you for keeping it updated.

If you’re on the interviewing-side of the job search, asking these behavioral questions during the interview will help make sure that your company’s culture will stand as proof-of-concept that investing in bringing on the right employees makes for a better future for your company as a whole.

And, when you need to take a few steps back to add perspective to your career journey — I suggest doing two things, reading this interview on chasing your passion I did with my husband and interviewing the true norths in your own life who help illustrate all of the qualities you’re working towards embodying.

Touching base with someone who is a few steps ahead and who can serve as a lighthouse during stormy times can be the push you need to make it to shore.

In the meantime, I leave you with a few more pieces that will hopefully
help guide you in your career journey.

How should job seekers approach job search today?

“The right way is to start, and work on it as you would
any other project that mattered to you.”

This was one of the many answers I gave during a Q+A with careermetis.com. I focused on outlining best practices if you’re interviewing and what should really belong in your elevator pitch.

Looking to hire entrepreneurial individuals? This one is for you.

It’s all in the strategy…

NASDAQ ran with a piece I wrote on the best tips to retain entrepreneurial job seekers. It comes down to 3 separate mindsets — the more you know, the more you’ll be able to attract and retain theright people for you.
