How Strong Is Your Workplace Game Face?

image: playfulintellection

By Jacqui Barrett-Poindexter

My recent post over at Glassdoor.com articulated the value of wearing your ‘game face’ as a mask in which you suit up to play the part of a value-add workplace contributor. The metaphor sparked a couple of pithy comments from Twitter and blogging leadership professionals, Meghan Biro (@MeghanMBiro) and Dawn Lennon (@businessfit).

Biro remarked, “Often, when we hear the term ‘game face’ it connotes someone not being authentic when faced with an uncomfortable dynamic. It is possible to be both transparent, genuine *and* have your game face on if you take the extra time to think after a strong emotional response occurs.”

Lennon added that “the expression of ‘never let’em see you sweat'” underpinned the salient points.

I couldn’t agree more with my career and leadership compadres, and I’m so pleased they further expanded upon and clarified the metaphor. To read the blog post and my friends’ complete comments, I invite you to click here: Four Ways To Strengthen Your Game Face At Work.
